Dropdown Currency Chooser — Setup Guide

Published on April 1st, 2026 by Cara

The Dropdown Chooser allows you to customize the currency switcher menu that buyers see in your store. Below is a detailed explanation of each setting to help you complete the configuration quickly and easily.

Currency List Configuration

In the currency list settings section, you can choose which currencies to display to your buyers. It is recommended to filter the list based on your main target markets to avoid making the list too long and causing decision fatigue. You can drag and drop to reorder the currencies, placing the most frequently used ones at the top of the list for buyers to find them quickly.

Appearance & Style Settings

Display Position: You can set where the dropdown chooser appears on the page. Common options include embedded in the navigation bar, floating in the bottom-right corner, or in the footer area. It is recommended to place it in a highly visible location, such as the right side of the top navigation bar.

Style Customization: You can adjust the overall appearance of the chooser, including background color, text color, border style, corner radius, and more. This ensures it matches your store’s theme and visual style seamlessly.

Currency Display Format: Choose how currencies appear in the dropdown menu — you can display the currency symbol only (e.g., $, €, ¥), the currency code only (e.g., USD, EUR, CNY), or both, to suit different buyers’ reading preferences.

Flag Icons: Some settings allow you to display the corresponding country flag icon next to the currency name, improving visual recognition and helping buyers quickly identify the currency’s origin.

Default Currency Settings

You can specify a default currency that new visitors will see when they first enter your store. It is generally recommended to set this as your store’s primary currency. Alternatively, you can combine it with the geolocation feature so the system automatically selects the most appropriate default currency based on the visitor’s location.

Mobile Responsiveness

In the mobile settings, you can separately adjust the display style and position of the dropdown chooser on smartphones and tablets. This ensures a touch-friendly experience and prevents layout issues, providing mobile buyers with the same smooth user experience.

Save & Preview

After completing all settings, click the Save button in the top-right corner to apply your configuration. It is highly recommended to preview the changes on the storefront after saving. Check how the dropdown chooser looks on both desktop and mobile devices to ensure the style and position meet your expectations before going live.
